WebMD – Mar. 11, 2014 – Researchers analyzing data from the Centers for Disease
Control estimated that women have a six percent increase in risk of ovarian
cancer risk for every five-point increase their body-mass index (BMI). The
researchers led Dr. Elisa Bandera, an associate professor of epidemiology at
the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, said that it is becoming clear that
fat cells produce both inflammatory compounds and hormonal imbalances that may upset the
body’s normal balance needed for health.
